The Spiritual Story Behind the Dreamcatchers
By Moni, creator of ArMoniZar
Here I share a very special part of my story, where everything began: my connection with ancestral cultures, the Inipi ritual practice (sweat lodge), and the encounter with the Dreamcatcher as a symbol of spiritual transformation.
🪶 My First fascination with Indigenous Peoples
Interviewer: Moni, tell us, how did your fascination with indigenous peoples begin?
Moni: My fascination with indigenous peoples, especially those from North America. I have a book that was given to me when I was a little girl, and I remember the excitement I felt reading stories about buffalo hunts and how they created such impressive art in every part of their world—their clothing, sacred objects, legends, and stories. At that time, I didn’t understand anything about cultural representation; I simply felt a deep fascination that later led me toward a more thoughtful and respectful path.
I loved shows like Zorro. Stories like Dances with Wolves and White Fang made my skin tingle. But I was too young to understand why I was so drawn to them.

✨ Discovering the Dreamcatcher
Interviewer: And when did you discover the Dreamcatcher?
Moni: When my first child was born, the Dreamcatcher came into my life. I saw it, connected deeply with it, became obsessed, and started seeing it everywhere while having ideas about its weaving. I learned to make them very naturally, just by looking, and adapted the design to different shapes.
At first, I made them with wicker, but then I switched to willow, to stay true to the Dreamcatcher legend. One day I discovered that this captivating web mandala I had also seen in crop circles (in England and other places) was woven into the Dreamcatchers, and it appeared in a legend from North American indigenous cultures!!!! It all made perfect sense to me—it was so perfect for me. Dreamcatchers were a sacred object in these traditions, and the wisdom I found behind them amazed me.
I did a research on the web mandala that you can find on my blog, along with the two legends.

🔥 The Inipi Ritual Practice (Sweat Lodge)
Interviewer: Wow, that sounds like a real spiritual awakening. What happened next?
Moni: Years later, life brought me to the Inipi ritual practice (sweat lodge). It was a truly transformative experience—a revelation!! The first one I attended already showed great synchronicity. The person guiding it shared my name. At the time, I didn’t know I would take on that role in the future.
It was only at the second ritual, in another place with different people, that I asked about the origin of this transformative and special practice. I was told it was part of the traditions of the Red Road. That’s when my journey into this worldview began, and you know what I discovered? My skin tingled with every word I read.
Their way of seeing the physical world and real life was exactly how I saw it. They thought like me!!! About life, about death, everything!! They knew what I intuited and were confirming it.
I wasn’t crazy anymore!! There were more “crazy” people!!! People who thought like all these amazing souls I met at the Inipi gatherings. I loved every minute, finally speaking a common language!!! Where I wasn’t looked at as out of place or heretical.
I close my eyes and see myself wearing feathers in my hair while riding through the mountains!!!

🌺 Connection with Hindu Philosophy
Interviewer: What an intense experience. How did this connect with Hindu philosophy?
Moni: The revelation in the Inipi ritual brought yet another revelation. Hindu philosophy, through some very loving Masters, filled the event with givers of energy they called the “Blessing of Unity.” I received it in my crown chakra with immense love, surrendering completely to be healed and transformed.
That day, my channel opened. Words cannot describe the experience or what continued with the Inipi Ritual. It was a before-and-after moment in my life. Of course, I later became a giver of this energy, and all the wisdom that came with it transformed my life completely.
Imagine my joy when later, through research, I read “The Sacred Pipe”! The story of the great Alce Negro, and in addition to the immense wisdom shared for humanity, I found the author’s notes explaining the incredible similarities between Hindu philosophy and these ancestral traditions.
My soul exploded with happiness.
Everything fit together. And I was guided step by step.

🌕 The Dreamcatcher as the Center of My Life
Interviewer: And today, what role does the Dreamcatcher play in your life and work?
Moni: Since that epic day, every time I meditate or connect in any way, my crown chakra and hands activate. I can feel energy flowing through my body, and I can enter deep meditation much faster.
To this day, Maty and I continue practicing the Inipi rituals just as we learned them. They’re essential for our well-being and joy. Every time, they fill us with strength, clarity, and creative flow. And the Dreamcatcher has become the heart of my life and our work together.
Thank you, Great Spirit!!
